Grit is based on perseverance for the long-term. Grit is not a sprint - it’s a marathon of courage and develops toughness for tough times. We are not perfect and sometimes our bone-headed actions hurt others. Or we fail to act effectively and hurt other people. Or we act, or fail to act, and hurt ourselves!

Grace is compassion for our imperfect selves and others. Grace leads to understanding and acceptance. Gratitude can come from an undeserved kindness. We must learn to receive love and appreciation for our Inner Child. Some untreated victims can only do for others and do not allow others to give to them, i.e., the shadow of the helper.

Our efficient adult selves can be almost heartless at times, forgetting our emotional life includes the child within. Loving and nurturing parent models can be created by re-parenting ourselves (ACA, 2021). We can create a softer gentler world in painful times. It takes all three. Grit. Grace. Gratitude.

Mission Statement: I am committed to being an effective member of the global digital community. Montana Cat Tales for Life-Long Learners, LLC publishes children’s picture books for ages 4-8, on earth science; emotions and feelings; and social-emotional learning (SEL). These books work to help children understand themselves, their place in the world through animal characters and diverse human companions, and to find their authentic Voice. They provide Learning-to-Learn Skills for Early Readers, sight-words, and phonics for academic enrichment. The chapter books are historical fiction and help students to read between-the-lines while using critical thinking skills.
