I am one of the many teachers who wait 24 hours to respond to events when time is not of the essence. I observe, not absorb. Next, I make sure to eat good food, to laugh, to connect with friends and loved ones, and to rest. Then, in the cool-light-of-day I craft an effective response without being tempted to immediately "send."
The 24-hour Teacher Rule helps me to keep-mouth-shut (kms). More times than I care to admit, the kms tool has produced relief instead of regret.
