THOU SHALT NOT KID THYSELF
SEL: #1 Self-Awareness
Digital Learner: #3 Digital Citizen
Many of us are lagging behind the
future instead of walking towards it. For me, it hasn’t been a sprint, rather
it’s been a slog-through-the-bog-hoping-dry-land-is-on-the-other-side event. I
have found dry land! Here’s the Blog! My children’s literature teachers said
they have to be able to find me on the Internet even though I won’t be
publishing my first three books in a series until the end of 2022. Hmpfh!
Embrace social media. Hmpfh! Hmpfh!
Self-awareness for me begins with the 11th commandment, “Thou shalt not kid thyself.” Waiting is an action and it is very hard for me to be mindful in the “pause.” In music, rests are uber-important. Without them, the piece makes no sense, has no feeling and can end up as a muddy puddle of tones. While waiting, consider the options, talk with at least two or three Accountability Partners, and, then do the next right thing. Stop. Just do the next right thing.
This works for me if I begin to feel
overwhelmed. When my husband died a couple of years ago, there was great
calamity. I chose to move and to find a way to re-calibrate my retirement. Yes,
there are 10 Elegant Solutions to Every Problem! Nevertheless, I may not
like them very much. I may have to make
the best worse-choice to avoid becoming stuck.

I love the thought of rests as "uber-important" in music. We all need to just stop now and then to avoid becoming overwhelmed.
ReplyDeleteI used to think "doing" was effective. I found it delayed feeling my feelings, avoided contacting my accountability partners, and was not being very kind to me. :)
DeleteI'm not a huge fan of waiting either, but do love the results! Avoiding impulsive purchases, dodging hurting feelings by blurting stuff in anger or offense, making wiser choices! Yes, the pauses are uber important!😃
ReplyDeleteThich Nhat Hanh (2011) reminds us, "The tree doesn't seem to be doing anything. It stands there vigorous, fresh, and beautiful." We can learn much from trees. Appreciate your comment.
